Darko’s Bosch trekking tandem was built for a very clear purpose: to help him enjoy cycling again on gravel tracks, mountain paths and asphalt roads. As a German client, he wanted the confidence of a Bosch system, combined with a comfortable flat-bar position and a custom frame adapted to his needs.

Darko is visually impaired, so a tandem is much more than a bicycle choice. It is a way to continue enjoying cycling with different pilots, sharing the ride while keeping safety, comfort and confidence at the centre of the project.
For this build, the rear position was designed around Darko’s own body measurements, because he would be the regular stoker. The front position, however, was designed with a more standard fit, making the tandem easier to share with different captains.
The goal was not to create an aggressive racing tandem. Darko wanted a bike for real-world riding: gravel paths, mountain tracks, asphalt sections and relaxed outings. That is why our trekking tandem concept was the right match. It uses the same tube combination as our gravel tandem frame, but with a geometry adapted to flat handlebars and a more upright, comfortable riding position.
The main feature of this project is the balance between capability and comfort. Darko wanted a tandem that could handle mixed terrain, but without the more performance-focused position of a drop-bar gravel setup. The flat handlebars make the bike easier to control and create a more relaxed position for longer rides.
The Bosch system was another important decision. For an international client based in Germany, Bosch offered trust, a strong service network and easier technical support close to home. In this build, the bike is equipped with a Bosch Performance Line CX motor and a Bosch PowerTube 800Wh battery, giving the tandem a powerful and practical setup for varied terrain .
Another key point is the custom sizing strategy. The rear of the bike was made specifically for Darko, while the front was designed to work well for different pilots. This makes the tandem more versatile and easier to use with several riding partners.
This is a solid mid-range build, chosen for reliability, good performance and sensible value. The setup combines a Bosch electric system, Shimano XT 11-speed Linkglide transmission, strong 4-piston brakes and practical aluminium components for everyday durability.
