Instructions for taking body measurements for custom geometry for tandems and bicycles

One of the most important aspects to consider when riding a bicycle is to ensure that you are pedaling in the correct position. Making a custom tandem or bike allows us to adapt the frame to the body measurements of each pair of riders, significantly improving the experience of the cyclists and ensuring a constant improvement in health and well-being in the long term.

Our artesanal manufacturing method is what allows us to have total flexibility in the design and gives us the possibility to adapt the dimensions of both the frame and the components to the needs of each of our customers.

BIKE FITTING

Bike fitting is a quick and easy option that, through a form of main measurements, can extract a geometry suitable for the body proportions of each cyclist.

Based on the measurements on the form, the bicycle configuration is analyzed and adapted to the physical and biomechanical characteristics of each rider. The main objective of bike fitting is to achieve an optimal position on the tandem or bicycle that maximizes comfort, efficiency and injury prevention.

You can take the measurements yourself from home. Below are the instructions for taking the measurements:

INSTRUCTIONS

The following are the 5 necessary bike fitting measurements to create a geometry adapted to each rider:

A. Inseam: vertical line from the floor to the pelvis bone

B. Suprasternal notch: vertical line from the floor to the cavity above the sternum, right at the base of the neck

C. Total height in upright position

D. Arm: horizontal line from the centre of the fist to the wall. With the elbow at 90° and leaning against the wall

E. Forearm: horizontal line from the centre of the fist to the wall. Arm fully extended following the horizontal line of the floor

To take the measurements you need to be barefoot and the arm measurements always should reach the centre of the closed fist, as if you were holding the handlebar of the bike.
