The new road bike

of UCI Trials World Champion Sergi Llongueras combines a fully custom aluminium frame with a high-end build developed in collaboration with some of the component brands that have supported him throughout his competition career.

This September, Campmajó Bikes presented the new KENSA at Sea Otter Europe, where the bike was showcased at the FSA booth. The project brings together Campmajó Bikes with FSA and Vision, alongside Prologo and Columbus, to create a performance-focused build that shows what is possible when aluminium is treated as a high-end material.

Although trials is Sergi’s main discipline, road and mountain biking are an important part of his physical preparation throughout the season. Campmajó Bikes supports him with the different bicycles he needs for training, from his trials bikes to his mountain and road bikes.

For his new road bike, the goal was to build a fast, efficient and fully custom training bike around one of the core principles of Campmajó Bikes, an aluminium custom frame designed and manufactured in-house, entirely in our workshop in Spain.

The result is a KENSA equipped with some of the highest-level components available from FSA, Vision, Columbus, Prologo and Shimano, creating a bike that combines custom manufacturing with a modern, fully integrated high-performance build.

A high-end road bike built around aluminium

In a road market where carbon dominates much of the high-end segment, the new KENSA shows that a high-performance road bike does not necessarily need a carbon frame. A properly designed aluminium frame can deliver excellent results in terms of weight, stiffness, responsiveness and overall ride performance, while also offering a more accessible price point. In the case of the KENSA, this is combined with one of the main advantages of Campmajó Bikes: the possibility of building the frame with a truly custom geometry.

Rather than adapting the rider to a limited range of standard sizes, each KENSA can be designed around the rider’s exact measurements, position and riding goals. This also gives Campmajó Bikes the flexibility to reproduce a specific geometry when required, whether based on a previous bike, a preferred fit or a completely new custom setup.

Sergi’s KENSA frame weighs 1.42kg, showing how far a carefully developed aluminium frame can be optimised for performance. The complete bike, including pedals, weighs 8.4kg.

Combined with electronic shifting, an integrated carbon cockpit, carbon wheels, a carbon fork, a power meter and premium finishing components, the result is a fast, responsive and highly refined road bike built around a frame that is not only light and performance-focused, but also fully tailored to its rider.

Fully custom geometry for Sergi

As with Campmajó Bikes’ custom road frames, Sergi’s KENSA was designed specifically around his body measurements, riding position and intended use. Instead of starting from a standard frame size and adapting the position afterwards, the geometry is defined from the beginning around the rider.

This allows Campmajó to work directly with parameters such as front-end height, reach, tube lengths, frame angles and final contact-point position.

The objective is to build the bicycle around the rider rather than asking the rider to adapt to the bicycle. For Sergi, the result is a road position developed specifically for the long hours of training that complement his trials preparation.

High-end components throughout

To complete the bike, Campmajó Bikes worked with FSA, Vision, Columbus and Prologo, selecting a component package designed around performance, integration and training functionality.

At the front of the bike, the Vision Metron 5D ACR EVO combines the handlebar and stem into a fully integrated carbon cockpit. Its ACR system allows the brake hoses to run internally through the cockpit, headset, fork and frame, leaving the front of the bicycle extremely clean.

Integration continues through the Columbus Futura Trefoil Road carbon fork. Its distinctive Trefoil steerer design is developed around fully internal cable routing, while the fork also incorporates an integrated direct Flat Mount brake interface for a particularly clean front-end design.

The drivetrain is based around Shimano Ultegra Di2 12-speed, with a 50/34T chainring combination and an 11-34T cassette, giving Sergi a broad range suitable for fast road sessions as well as training routes with significant climbing. The electronic Di2 system provides fast, precise and consistent shifting with very little effort at the levers, while also helping maintain reliable shifting performance throughout long training rides.

The crankset is an FSA PowerBox K-Force Team Edition, one of FSA’s highest-end road cranksets and a model developed for professional-level performance. It combines hollow carbon crank arms, CNC-machined aluminium chainrings and a 30 mm spindle to deliver a high stiffness-to-weight ratio, together with an integrated power meter for precise training data.

On Sergi’s KENSA, the 170 mm crankset is paired with 50/34T chainrings to be fully compatible with the Ultegra front derailleur. As the bike is primarily a training tool, the integrated power meter is especially valuable for accurately controlling effort, training load and power-based sessions, bringing a component developed for top-level racing into a build designed for serious everyday training.

For the wheelset, the KENSA uses Vision Metron 45 SL carbon wheels with a Shimano HG Road freehub body.

The 45 mm rim depth provides an aerodynamic profile while remaining versatile enough for everyday training across varied terrain. The wheels are paired with Vittoria Corsa Pro Control 700x32C tyres, set up tubeless.

The 30 mm tyre width adds another layer of versatility to the bike, providing a good balance between rolling performance, grip and comfort for long training sessions.

The seatpost is a Vision Metron SB20 carbon seatpost, while the saddle is the Prologo Dimension R2 Nack, one of the brand’s high-end performance models, featuring its lightweight Nack rail system.

The rest of the bike follows the same philosophy.

FSA SL-K bottle cages, Shimano Ultegra SPD-SL pedals and white FSA PowerTouch handlebar tape complete the build.

At 8.4 kg complete with pedals, the final bike brings together a custom aluminium frame, fully integrated carbon components, electronic shifting, power measurement and a versatile wheel and tyre setup in a package designed for serious everyday training.

More than a show bike

After its presentation at Sea Otter Europe, the KENSA now moves into its real role: becoming part of Sergi Llongueras’ daily training equipment. Alongside his trials and mountain bikes, it will be used to accumulate training volume, structure power-based sessions and support his physical preparation throughout the season.

At the same time, the project makes a broader point about modern road bikes.

A high-performance bicycle does not necessarily have to start with the material that currently dominates the market. It starts with good design, appropriate geometry, careful manufacturing and components selected around a clear purpose.

The new KENSA is Campmajó Bikes’ interpretation of exactly that idea.
