We have just delivered Thomas’s Gurugú frame, a client from Germany who is passionate about MTB, mechanics and long tandem rides with his family. In this case, he chose the frame only, with the Bosch system and primary transmission factory-assembled, so he can complete the build with some components he already had from his previous mountain tandem.

The story behind this tandem

Thomas already has experience with mountain tandems and rides many kilometres every year, sharing routes with his wife and daughter. For them, the tandem is a way to enjoy the mountains together, discover new trails and experience cycling as something shared.

As both a cycling enthusiast and a mechanically minded rider, he was clear that he wanted to upgrade his tandem with a modern, powerful and high-level base. That is why he chose our Gurugú, our most advanced full-suspension electric tandem, designed to take on demanding mountain routes with stability, comfort and control.

In this project, instead of a complete tandem, Thomas chose the electric frame with the Bosch system and the primary transmission already assembled. This is the configuration we always offer with our electric frames, as the primary transmission, cranks, chainrings, chain and system-specific elements must be perfectly adjusted to ensure correct chain lines and a final build that is easy, reliable and trouble-free.

This allows him to reuse some components from his previous tandem, while starting from a completely new frame, ready to deliver a major step forward in quality, performance and range.

Campmajo Bikes builds fantastic tandems. I ordered a full-suspension MTB tandem frame with a Bosch drive and two batteries. I received it a few months later. The wait was absolutely worth it. I got what I really wanted. The design fully met my expectations. At home in my workshop, I completed the tandem with a Fox 38 suspension fork, Fox spring shock, Magura Gustaf Pro brakes, Bosch-TRP automatic shifting, my self-built 27.5inx40mm wheels from DT-Swiss with 2.8in tires, and various accessories. The tandem works perfectly. It smooths out bumps on bad paths and trails excellently. With the Bosch drive, the tandem climbs confidently and almost effortlessly. In short, it's a lot of fun to ride. I'd like to thank Luis and his fantastic team for their fantastic work and the idea behind this fantastic tandem, and Anna for her intensive support during production and even afterward. Main features

The most outstanding feature of this Gurugú is the Bosch dual-battery system, with two interconnected batteries that work as a single high-capacity unit. With a total of 1,200 Wh, the tandem offers very high range, ideal for long rides, mountain routes and full days of pedalling without having to worry about the battery level at any point.

The frame features the latest generation Bosch system, with a Performance Line CX motor, System Controller integrated into the frame and Kiox 300 display, a modern, powerful setup that is very well suited to an electric mountain tandem.

As with all our electric frames, the system is delivered with the primary transmission factory-assembled, including cranks, chainrings, chain and the specific elements required to ensure proper operation from the very first moment.

From an aesthetic point of view, Thomas chose a custom colour combination and added his own decal to the frame, giving the tandem an even more personal and unique finish.
